Ayurvedic herbs are gaining a lot of popularity among people for hair care because of their natural healing properties. Below are the ayurvedic herbs that we use in our oils –

 

Curry Leaves, native to India and Sri Lanka, are rich in antioxidants that help moisturize the scalp and get rid of dead hair follicles in the process. It boosts the restoration process of the scalp by opening clogged hair follicles and giving it room to breathe. Curry Leaves are a good source of beta-carotene and protein and help prevent hair loss and thinning. They are rich in amino acids that help strengthen hair follicles. They are also a rich source of vitamin B and helps restore hair color thus preventing premature graying. Curry leaves infused in oil also help get rid of product build up that deposits under the cuticles of hair shaft.

 

Indian Gooseberry or Amla; abundant in Vitamin C, essential fatty acids, iron and carotene content; is a superfood for hair! Amla infused in oil helps fight hair loss by strengthening hair follicles and stimulating new hair growth. It fights premature graying and overall keeps hair thick, shiny and beautiful. It is a wonderful conditioner for hair and prevents dandruff too.

 

Hibiscus or Chinese Rose, is one of the popular herbs used for hair growth and is an integral ingredient in herbal shampoos and conditioners. When infused in oil, it boosts hair growth by promoting blood circulation in the scalp. Being rich in Vitamin C and amino acids, it boosts collagen production of hair leading to strengthening of roots and a healthy hair growth. It is also a natural conditioner that helps hydrate hair, reduce frizz and help hair feel softer.

 

Aloe Vera, the plant of immortality, in Sanskrit is called Ghrita Kumari which means youth gel. The gel of aloe vera is rich in Vitamin A, C, E, amino acids, fatty acids and contains powerful antioxidants that help rejuvenate hair follicles to promote healthy new growth. Its antibacterial and antifungal properties help prevent dandruff and other fungal infections. It is an excellent conditioner and moisturizer for hair. It also helps remove the excess natural oil (sebum) in head that blocks hair follicles.

 

False Daisy or Bhringraj, means ‘King of Hair’. It is a medicinal herb for hair regrowth since ancient times and known to prevent hair loss by improving blood circulation at the root. It also fights premature graying by maintaining the natural color of hair. Bhringraj infused in oil easily penetrates into the scalp and helps in treating dry scalp. Regular use of Bhringraj can make hair stronger and shinier.

 

Black Seed infused in oil is very effective in tackling hair loss by improving scalp health due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. It is also known to be an effective dandruff treatment. Black seed oil conditions hair by moisturizing scalp and balance the production of natural oil (sebum) in the scalp.

 

Fenugreek Seeds, is extremely effective in strengthening hair from its root and treat follicular problems. It is rich in iron which is boosts blood circulation in our scalp. The Potassium and amino acids in Methi seeds strengthens the hair follicles. The lecithin in fenugreek is known to nourish hair, make roots strong, and heal scalp as well.  Fenugreek is related to chickpeas and peanuts, so people with an allergy to either of these two foods could potentially develop a fenugreek allergy.

 

Peppercorn, a small little spice, is packed with rich properties in abundance. Potassium, magnesium, iron, Vitamin C and Vitamin K content in peppercorn helps revitalize hair and treat dandruff as well. It works as a natural astringent for the scalp, opening pores and allowing healthy hair growth.

 

Cinnamon is a fragrant spice used for centuries in Ayurveda to cure various ailments. It is known to exfoliate scalp, strengthen hair follicles and stimulate hair growth.

 

Onions are rich in sulphur, B-complex and Vitamins A, C, and E. Sulphur in onion infused oil helps stimulate collagen production and minimize hair thinning and breakage. The potent anti-bacterial properties of onion help fight infections of the scalp.
